the-mamishka:

Hi all! This is a shout out to all the Sherlockians in the Seattle, WA area and parts nearby, and I need your help even if you are not local!

I work for SIFF, a cool non-profit movie theater/festival and we have a lovely 91 seat theater in the heart of Seattle Center - the perfect place to have a Sherlock Mini-Convention! But before this can happen I need help from YOU! I’m looking for ARTISTS!WRITERS!, and SHERLOCK FANS! who would be interested in participating in an event like this and who can collectively help to pay the cost of the space.

Ideally I see this as a big screen showing of all three episodes of Sherlock Season 2 with some time either in-between or after for hanging out, chatting, and looking at cool Sherlock stuff by local artists. But in order to make this happen, I need to know how many people would actually be interested and willing/able to kick in money. The more people who can come, the cheaper it will be per person and the more cool and awesome stuff we can do! In current negotiations, if we had 50 people in attendance the cost would be approximately $10 per person! If 25 people attended it would be around $20 per person! Very reasonable!

So here are the steps that need to be taken in order to make this happen! :)

Step 1: REBLOG, REBLOG, REBLOG! We need to reach as many people in the Seattle area as possible and the best way that you can help is by reblogging this post, even if you don’t personally live here. :)

Step 2: RSVP AND LET ME KNOW YOU’D LIKE TO COME! If this is something that you would be interested in, please reply to this post but dropping me an Ask here or leaving a reply on my LiveJournal account - mamishka-fic. I can only make this happen if enough people indicate that they want in! :)

Step 3: PICK A DATE! Once we have enough people to make this happen, I’ll work out with SIFF what dates the theater is available and then put the options up to a vote. Whichever date the most people interested can make will be the date of the Convention!

Additionally, if anyone local has ideas about other fun things that we could do at the convention, I’m all ears! The Seattle Center is a great place for a convention - lots of large open areas, tons of great restaurants within easy walking distance. As I said before, the more people who can come and contribute, the more fun stuff we can do! So please spread the word! :)

Many thanks to you all! :D
